These traditional Moroccan pastries, known as kaab el ghazal, are given a playful and colorful twist with rainbow sprinkles, transforming a classic treat into a fun, eye-catching dessert. Whether you're in need of a sweet pick-me-up or preparing a special occasion treat, these gazelle horns will bring the elegance and charm of Moroccan cuisine right to your kitchen.

Serves: 14 crescent-shaped cookies

Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough:

  • 150g Sesame Seeds
  • 250g Ground Almonds
  • 120g Caster Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Orange Blossom Water
  • 40g Unsalted Butter, softened
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ pinch Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Rainbow Sugar Sprinkles
  • 2 Egg Whites

For the Dressing:

No separate dressing needed—just a generous coating of toasted sesame seeds and a hint of orange blossom to perfume the cookies beautifully.

Method

  1. Prep the Sesame Seeds
Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan), Gas Mark 6. Spread the sesame seeds out on a baking tray and roast for 7–10 minutes or until golden, stirring halfway to ensure even roasting. Once done, transfer to a shallow bowl and let cool. Leave the oven on.
  2. Make the Almond Paste
In a large mixing bowl, blend the ground almonds and softened butter using your hands until smooth. Add the sugar, orange blossom water, salt, and cinnamon. Mix until a fragrant and moist paste forms.
  3. Add the Sprinkles
Fold in the rainbow sugar sprinkles, evenly distributing them throughout the dough for a burst of color and fun.
  4. Shape the Horns
Divide the dough into 14 equal portions. Shape each into a 5cm-long cylinder. Dip each cylinder into egg whites, then roll them in the roasted sesame seeds.
  5. Form and Bake
On a parchment-lined baking sheet, gently curve each cylinder into a crescent shape. Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until golden.
  6. Cool and Serve
Let the cookies cool on the tray for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. The result: golden, crunchy, aromatic horns with a delightful pop of color.

Conclusion

Much like the Moroccan Hair Care Trio leaves your hair glowing with vitality, these sesame gazelle horns bring warmth, joy, and a touch of Moroccan elegance to your dessert table. With the perfect balance of almond, floral orange blossom, and a crunchy sesame finish, each bite will transport you to a world of comfort and indulgence.

Enjoy them with a refreshing cup of mint tea, or perhaps while pampering your hair with a luxurious mask. Either way, this treat is a true celebration of Moroccan flavors.
